While our first priority is to save your teeth, sometimes dental implants are necessary. This oral surgery procedure requires the fusion of bone and dental prosthesis. At Greater Endodontics, we use cutting edge technology and modern dental techniques for quick, successful, and pain free dental implant oral surgeries. If you need a dental implant specialist in Utah, you can count on our expertise. Dental implants, when properly cared for, can last up to 15 years.

PAIN/INFLAMMATION

Pain and inflammation will peak around day 3 or day 4. After that point, the area in question should start to slowly improve. The area will be tender to the touch for approximately 1-2 weeks.

REMEDIES FOR PAIN

Apply warm wet heat (i.e. warm washcloth) to the cheek where the treatment was performed. DO NOT drink any warm liquids, as they may dissolve the sutures.

Do not use ice, as this will slow the healing process.

Do not use ANY essential oils inside the mouth.

It is recommended that you take Ibuprofen to aid in the healing of the bone and reduce swelling. You may take 800 mg 3-4 times a day. Do not exceed 3200 mg in a 24 hour period. Do not take Ibuprofen if your primary care physician does not allow you to take NSAID's.

HYGIENE CARE

You can gently brush the tooth/teeth where the treatment was performed. but DO NOT brush gums. Please use the soft tooth brush provided. You may brush as normal after a week, but still be gentle in the surgical site for an additional week.

Salt water/saline rinses are encouraged to keep the area clean. Do not swish aggressively, simply let the water/saline bath over the surgical site.

Do not floss or use a water pie in the surgical site.

Do not eat anything granular that could get stuck in the surgical site i.e. strawberries, raspberries, popcorn.
