Dental Sedation Specialists In Murray

Dental Sedation is the process of being put to sleep for dental treatment. There are several different types of sedation offered at Greater Endodontics. We are the leading dental sedation specialists in Murray, and any sedation that is required will be discussed before your procedure.

The type of dental sedation required depends on the procedure needed. Many forms of dental emergency require a root canal. A root canal allows our endodontic professionals to save the affected tooth by removing the pulp and cleaning, filling and sealing the canals. The tooth is restored using a crown or other dental restoration technique.

The level of sedation you need will depend on the severity of the dental issue and your anxiety level surrounding dental procedures. Many patients who do not have fears surrounding dental work prefer to use IV sedation because it is fast, painless and extremely effective. However, we differ from other endodontic and sedation specialists because we offer solutions to patients who avoid dental procedures due to anxiety. Our other methods of dental sedation are designed to keep you conscious and able to respond, so you can feel comfortable from the moment you step into our office. More advanced dental procedures may require your preferred sedation method to be paired with anesthesia. Local anesthesia may be all that a patient requires to feel the numbing effects and remain calm throughout the appointment, but we offer multiple options for patients that would like or require a sedative.

Greater Endodontics Sedation Options

Anxiolytics

Nearly 20% of Americans avoid going to the dentist regularly due to anxiety. Anxiolytics dentistry is provided for anxious patients to remain conscious and be able to respond during a procedure. This form of light sedation takes the edge off anxiety-inducing dental surgeries by giving patients who fear dental work—a common fear—control over the level of sedation. A anti-anxiety drug will be prescribed to you if you choose to use anxiolytic dental sedation methods. This will allow you to be calm during the procedure. Since it is a lighter sedation, this method is not possible for more severe procedures that require invasive surgery. You should discuss your options with our dental sedation specialists before surgery.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous Oxide is a form of sedative used to put the put the patient into a mild form of relaxation using a mask to inhale nitrous oxide (or laughing gas). It is a painless gas that will be carefully monitored by professional dentists to ensure proper administration and dosage. Within only a few minutes of the procedure you should be able to sit up and even drive home from your appointment. This easy method of sedation is great for minimally invasive procedures and can be paired with anesthesia for more severe procedures.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation allows the patient to be conscious throughout their endodontic procedure. Patients swallow a sedative pill that allows them to remain awake for the procedure. You will be able to respond to directives but have an elevated sense of calm by using this method of sedation. Many patients who use oral conscious sedation do not remember anything about the procedure. This method of sedation requires someone to drive you to and from your appointment and stay with you for six hours following the appointment.

IV Sedation

IV or intravenous sedation is a quick and effective form of sedation involving putting a needle into a patient’s vein. This is a very-fast acting method that will be painless and cause you to become drowsy. A second practitioner who specializes in sedation is there to ensure everything runs smoothly. IV sedation requires someone to bring you to your appointment, drive you home, and remain with you for six hours.

Worry-Free Care

At Greater Endodontics, our professional doctors have been recognized as among the best in the country. We are lucky to serve Utah patients with quality, affordable care twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. Our goal with any dental procedure is that you relax and feel comfortable with our capable professionals. With a variety of methods to help you through a dental procedure, our team is confident that you will overcome your fears about dental work.

When possible, we love to recommend our alternative to root canals, the GentleWave procedure. This procedure is designed with you in mind, so if you are hesitating to book an appointment, ask us about this option today! It is a one-time procedure with permanent effects. GentleWave cleans your teeth where traditional root canals can’t, and it also decreases the healing process.

The advanced system uses fluid vortex to clean the root canal system, clearing debris and tissue that can cause infection. The GentleWave system even cleans bacteria on a microscopic level, so you can be confident that your smile will be restored.

Dental Sedation Aftercare

Regardless of what form of sedation you use, it’s important to remember the proper aftercare. Do not operate a vehicle, any heavy machinery, or make important decisions for 24 hours after a procedure. While you might feel great after a light sedative, any form of sedation can cause drowsiness and delayed reaction times that make driving and heavy lifting dangerous.

Your procedure may or may not involve sutures or stitches. We recommend a soft diet while your mouth is healing, as soreness and discomfort are a part of the healing process. Drink plenty of fluids to ensure a smooth healing process.

No matter what method of dental sedation you use, Greater Endodontics is pleased to offer you options. From the moment you walk in the door, our endodontics specialists ensure that you have a pleasant and comfortable experience. We go above and beyond for our patients by offering cutting-edge technology and alternatives to the standard endodontic procedures. We hope that you schedule a consultation with us for the best dental care of your life! It is our commitment to care and empathy for patients that distinguishes Greater Endodontics as the leading endodontic professionals in Utah.

Fifteen months ago I had a root canal at a different endodontist in Salt Lake. Ever since that time, my teeth had been in pain. For the past twelve months I have visited with the team at Greater Endodontics four seperate times, specifically with Dr. Matt LeCheminant. Even though the problem was not readily apparent and the clinical exam was vague, he kept working with me to determine why my teeth kept hurting. He listened to me, even though I must have sounded crazy, and agreed to perform a repeat root canal with their GentleWave technology. As far as root canals go, the process was much better than I expected. This morning I had the pleasure of truly enjoying a hot cup of coffee without any tooth pain. Thank you Dr. LeCheminant and the entire team at Greater Endodontics.

I was referred to Dr. Facer after sustaining a fractured tooth in a biking accident. The staff was friendly, supportive, and great at communicating everything that was going on. Dr. Facer completed a phenomenal root canal on my tooth, all while dealing with the complicated factor of me having a broken jaw/limited opening of the mouth. The staff really went above and beyond for me and it made a huge difference. I can't recommend this office enough!

Dr. Brockbank and his assistant could not have been more caring during my emergency root canal, making certain that I felt no pain during the procedure. I was highly impressed with Dr. Brockbank’s professionalism and skills as a dental surgeon. I very much appreciate their office working with my dentist to find an appointment for me almost immediately. Their Midvale location is absolutely beautiful, pristine, and the latest surgical technology, tools, and lighting were used by Dr. Brockbank during my procedure. Amazingly, I feel great a day later with no pain, bruising, or after effects.

I'm so glad I went here. I can't say I enjoyed it or that it was comfortable but I had a tooth with really deep roots and I kept burning through the anesthesia. I think I counted 8 shots before I was done. However, I believe anyone else would have made this uncomfortable experience incredibly painful. Fortunately, the staff here knows what they're doing.

This was my first time having a root canal and I was dozing off during my appointment because I was so comfortable. I will recommend this office to everyone I know! Their staff was so friendly and helpful explaining the entire process. The Dr. and assistant eased my mind and asked me if I was doing okay through the entire procedure. Not to mention their office is beautiful! You feel so comfortable because you’re not in a sterile environment. Thank you Greater Endo for an amazing experience!

The staff was Friendly and Professional. They got me right in and were very helpful and answered all my questions. They made sure I know what they were doing and when they found an issue they discussed my options and suggested different options and helped me come to the treatment right for me. They let me know up front what was covered and what my responsibility would be, before they started working. And my treatment “Root Canal” was virtually painless. They made me feel comfortable and it was over quick and easy.

I've had a lot of root canals and dental work - like a LOT. My regular dentist was in the middle of crowning a tooth when it was determined that I needed an urgent root canal. Greater Endodontics had me in and the root canal completed less than 24 hours later and were SO gentle and SO clean. The office is very comfortable and Netflix in the ceiling is a huge bonus! While this was definitely the most complex root canal I've ever needed, it was the least painful and the fastest recovery of any others I have had. I HIGHLY recommend having any of your more complicated dental work done here. They even padded the nose cup on the nitrous with some cotton so it wouldn't dent my lip and nose! So thoughtful!

I had an intensive root canal re-treatment today... something that was possibly going to require a more extensive surgical procedure. Dr. LeCheminant was excellent!! He listened to my concerns and anxieties, answered questions, made adjustments and accommodations to keep me calm and did excellent work! This probably sounds like an exaggeration, but I literally had no pain during an almost two-hour procedure. 5 stars!!
