The type of dental sedation required depends on the procedure needed. Many forms of dental emergency require a root canal. Anxiolytics
Nearly 20% of Americans avoid going to the dentist regularly due to anxiety. Anxiolytics dentistry is provided for anxious patients to remain conscious and be able to respond during a procedure. This form of light sedation takes the edge off anxiety-inducing dental surgeries by giving patients who fear dental work—a common fear—control over the level of sedation. You will be able to respond to directives but have an elevated sense of calm by using this method of sedation. Many patients who use oral conscious sedation do not remember anything about the procedure. This method of sedation requires someone to drive you to and from your appointment and stay with you for six hours following the appointment.
IV Sedation
IV or intravenous sedation is a quick and effective form of sedation involving putting a needle into a patient’s vein. This is a very-fast acting method that will be painless and cause you to become drowsy. A second practitioner who specializes in sedation is there to ensure everything runs smoothly. IV sedation requires someone to bring you to your appointment, drive you home, and remain with you for six hours.
